Pagoda Bracelet & Crystal Ball Earrings

(Click any photo to see the full version)

I saw a variation of the Pagoda Bracelet from August 2010 B&B at Birdsong Beads in Andrews, NC. I made further variations and ended up with this amazing bracelet.

I played around with it some more and came up with these earrings as well.

Now I’m working on a necklace with beaded beads, netted rope, and maybe some herringbone. It’s pretty slow going. :)

I have more ideas than I can bead, sometimes, and that’s good. Although, it does make for a lot of UFOs!

Claddagh Reversible Tila & Peanut Bracelet

claddagh-bracelet-collage

I made these bracelets a while ago, but I was waiting to see if the tutorial would be picked up by Beadwork. They declined, but that means that I can show them off now – plus, the tutorial is now for sale on my website here: http://beadingbutterfly.com/patterns-tutorials/claddagh-reversible-tila-peanut-bracelet

The bracelet’s shape reminds me of a traditional Claddagh band with its diagonal lines and “crown”. It is made with peanut beads and Tilas, and because there are two layers of Tilas, it can be reversible as well.

I did discover that the galvanized Matsuno peanuts do not hold their color, so I would recommend applying a fixative such as Krylon before using. The jury is still out on the ones I’ve sprayed – I think they may need a second coat.

This one isn’t reversible due to the clasp I chose, but I thought it went perfectly with the bracelet’s Celtic theme:

This one is black on one side and metallic green on the other. Again, the galvanized peanuts leave much to be desired, so I hope the Krylon works so that I can make another one.

Tila Spikes Bracelet

Another Tila bracelet. I love that these beads make me have to discover new ways of using them. This one also uses bugle beads and drops.

Wallflower and Princess Zelda’s Rupees

I’ve had these tutorials available in my shop for a while now but never posted here about them. Wallflower and Princess Zelda’s Rupees, similar techniques, endless possibilities!

Use 1.8mm cube beads (I recommend Miyuki, as the Toho 1.5mm cubes are very irregular), 11/o seed beads, and 3mm bicone crystals to create a bracelet in a narrow or wide width. The tutorial is available in my shop here.

The second tutorial, Princess Zelda’s Rupees, is named for the jewel icons in the Nintendo games. The tutorial is available here.

There is also a discounted set available for both tutorials here.

Class Sample Update

Wow! I just realized how long it’s been since I’ve posted. This one will be short and sweet, with some new colorways of tutorials I have available. I taught these classes recently in Johnson City, TN, at Cindy’s Crafts, so I made new colorways to show as samples.

This one is the same pattern as my Indigo Glacier Bracelet, in khaki and copper. The tutorial is available in my shop.

I made two new colorways of Nuthin’ but Net, a netted rope bracelet. The tutorial is available here.

That’s all for now. I will post again shortly with my newest tutorials and some other pieces I’ve made recently.

Rani’s Tear

Finally, I am finished with my Artbeads Blogging for Beaders project! I was so busy after Christmas that when I was given the new challenge, “What’s Old is New Again!” I didn’t have time to think about it, let alone shop for materials. I finally had some time in late April or early May.

A long time ago, I bought four vintage Capri Blue Swarovski Rivolis from Beyond Beadery. I decided to pair one with champagne and black diamond seed beads. I chose a bunch of different materials initially, and even started working on a couple of ideas for ropes.

I had some good ideas and really liked the spiral rope, but I was going to run out of crystals quickly and couldn’t decide how I might hang the pendant.

In the end, I decided to go with simple. This is the decision that usually gives me the best results, and it was definitely right for this one. The rope is three sided RAW, with capri blue bicones to match the pendant.

The pendant is pretty substantial, but the piece is still very lightweight, which is great.

I showed the piece to a friend and she immediately named it. So, I give you Rani’s Tear:

*Please note: I have received the above items (the crystals and the seed beads) free of charge from Artbeads. This is my honest review of the product and I have not been paid for my endorsement as it pertains to the products received.

Soft as Nails

A few years ago, I made a Paso Doble bracelet from a pattern by Kashaya:

Then a couple of months ago, I went to a retreat and saw one a friend had made with 4mm cubes. I made my own, but I was not thrilled with it.

So tonight, I made another one. This time, I used tiny 1.8mm cubes and 3mm pearls. The seed beads are permanent finish in steel, and I love the slinky softness of the bracelet combined with the hard look of metal.
